After several evaluations of multiple profiles, Milan has narrowed the field for the role of sporting director around the name of Igli Tare, a name that never faded from the Rossoneri's thoughts and has now become official.
The only other concrete target besides him was Fabio Paratici, with whom the deal fell through at the last moment after negotiations had reached an advanced stage. From that moment on, all efforts focused on the former Lazio executive, for whom, a few days before the signing, there was a significant acceleration with new contacts between the parties.

Why Milan chose Tare
The club's idea was to bet on an executive who knows the Italian league well — and Tare worked for over 15 years at Lotito's Lazio, in addition to having a past as a player in Serie A — and who is capable of building a team for the Europa League and the Champions League. During the Albanian executive's years, Lazio often played in European competitions. In the coming season, Milan will not play in any European competitions, but the goal is to return to being protagonists as soon as possible, writes Calciomercato.com.
Tare is the executive who brought some of the best players of recent years to Lazio: from Milinkovic-Savic, snatched from Fiorentina for less than 10 million euros and later sold for 40 million to Saudi Arabia; to Luis Alberto, signed for not even 5 million euros from Deportivo La Coruña and who became a key player in Simone Inzaghi’s team; and then Miroslav Klose, an intuition of the sporting director, who brought him to the capital on a free transfer after his contract with Bayern Munich ended. But perhaps the most important signing was bringing Ciro Immobile, as he was looking for redemption after his stints abroad with Dortmund and Sevilla.
