With the sale of Tijjani Reijnders made official and that of Yunus Musah close to completion, this summer is shaping up to be another midfield revolution for Milan, which currently counts only Fofana, Loftus, and Bondo in that area. For this reason, the club is working to strengthen the core of the team, especially since fans are expecting major signings following Reijnders’ departure.
A swiss Milan?
This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport takes stock of the targets for Milan's new midfield. Excluding the signing of Luka Modric—who will finalize his transfer after the Club World Cup and will be a major asset to the squad in terms of leadership—the two main targets highlighted by La Gazzetta today paint a "Swiss Milan." On one side is the experience of Granit Xhaka, captain of the Swiss national team; on the other, his heir Ardon Jashari, born in 2002, whom Milan faced this year in the Champions League against Club Brugge. Regarding the first target, everything hinges on the agreement between Milan and Bayer Leverkusen, since Xhaka has a contract running until 2028. The 1992-born midfielder would be another high-profile signing, bringing experience and balance to the midfield. He himself has opened the door to a potential move to the Rossoneri. From the club headquarters, negotiations are progressing with optimism.

AC Milan's youth strategy...
It remains to be seen whether Tare intends to continue along the “Modric path,” seeking experienced players, or stick to the pursuit of emerging young talents—similar to the approach taken with Reijnders. Ardon Jashari fits into this second category. He is regarded in his homeland as Xhaka’s natural successor, and several clubs—especially from Germany—are interested in him. According to La Gazzetta this morning, his price tag is around 35 million euros. Still within the youth theme, the Italian newspaper also mentions the name of Spanish midfielder Javi Guerra, born in 2003 but already highly experienced with Valencia. He is currently involved in the U21 Euros, and the cost of his transfer would be slightly lower than that of the Swiss talent.
