Milan has long had its eyes on Granit Xhaka, the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder whom Massimiliano Allegri sees as the perfect reinforcement to bring experience and personality to the Rossoneri midfield. In recent hours, there has been a significant signal of openness from the Swiss player regarding a transfer to Milanello. Now, however, the German club must be convinced to let him go, and that will not be easy.

Contacts between AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen:
As reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare is expected to have an in-depth first contact with Bayer Leverkusen this week to try to give the negotiations a decisive push forward. In the coming days, the Rossoneri will thus launch their offensive, hoping to invest a bit more than 10 million euros, given that we're talking about a 32-year-old player. The German side, however, has no urgent need to sell Xhaka (who is under contract until 2028), as in recent weeks, through Tah, Frimpong, and especially Wirtz, they have already earned (or are about to earn) a substantial sum. The hope for the Rossoneri club is that Bayer will decide to satisfy the Swiss midfielder, who just a few days ago did not hide his desire to try a new experience in a different league.
Is Bayer Leverkusen interested in Malick Thiaw from AC Milan?
It's also worth noting that Milan has a defender who is of great interest to Leverkusen: Malick Thiaw, who is valued at at least 25 million euros by the AC Milan club directors. The operation could therefore develop on a double track. Meanwhile, Xhaka is on vacation, waiting to find out what his future holds. His openness to the Serie A club has been significant, but now the Rossoneri will need to convince Bayer to give up one of their key players after already losing three (Tah, Frimpong, and Wirtz). But Milan is determined to try everything, because they have now decided that leaders are needed in the middle of the pitch, and for this reason—after Luka Modric—they also want Granit Xhaka.
