Regarding Milan’s new midfield, today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport headlines this morning:
“Fewer runs forward, more possession. Max waits, Ricci gets closer.”

While in recent seasons the Rossoneri team relied heavily on the forward runs of midfielders (Reijnders above all), the new Milan project will start again with players who know how to maintain possession and who are refined passers, in order to seek control of the game.
Proof of this lies in the fact that the club did not want to replace Tijjani Reijnders with another midfielder who shares his characteristics, but rather with different players such as Luka Modric, Samuele Ricci, and, in all likelihood, one between Ardon Jashari and Javi Guerra.
