After seeing Archie Brown snatched away at the last moment by Fenerbahce and registering the high valuation of Guela Doué, Milan may be forced to give up on another target.

Archie Brown, the first player seriously scouted and pursued to replace Theo Hernandez on the left, is now off the table after the blow delivered by Fenerbahce. And with Milan struggling to convince Strasbourg to lower their asking price of around 30 million euros (including bonuses) for right-back Guela Doué, the Rossoneri risk seeing another option to reinforce the flanks slip away.
The club has long been monitoring another right-sided profile — a name previously explored by Atalanta and Roma in past transfer windows: Marc Pubill. The 2003-born full-back, whose card is owned by Almeria (currently in Spain’s Segunda Division), comes with a more affordable price tag compared to other targets, as pointed out by Calciomercato.com. However, in recent hours, Wolverhampton appears to have taken the lead. According to Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, the English side is pushing hard to beat the competition and secure the Spanish player.
Despite having a contract running until June 2029, following a failed transfer to Atalanta in the summer of 2024, Pubill has informed Almeria of his desire to change teams and test himself on a bigger stage. An Olympic champion with Spain, the physical and pacey full-back ended last season with 36 league appearances and one goal, plus four additional appearances in the Copa del Rey. Valued at around €15 million, Pubill has also recently attracted interest from Juventus, although Milan had seemed the most convinced. Now, however, Wolverhampton’s acceleration threatens to once again upend the plans of Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri for the wide areas.
