AC Milan have decided to focus on Rasmus Højlund, he is set to become the new number 9 for the Rossoneri. Or rather, he should be, because it’s always wise to use the conditional when it comes to delicate negotiations like this. The reasoning is simple: with Abraham, Camarda, and Jovic no longer options, the Diavolo are obliged to bring fresh goals into the side. As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes this morning, “obligation” is in fact the key word in the Højlund deal.
Højlund, Milan step up: here’s how the deal can be unlocked
Milan are pushing for Højlund after the player opened up to the idea of moving to the Rossoneri. The Dane, however, decided to change his stance after the Milan management opted to propose a permanent transfer for the former Atalanta striker under specific conditions.
This could be exactly what unblocks the deal, as such a formula could satisfy not only Manchester United’s demands but also the player’s own desire to restart once and for all after his complicated spell in England. The talks have therefore reached a turning point: in the coming days, or even as early as today, new contacts are expected not only between the two clubs but also with the striker’s agents. The agreement could be struck on the basis of a paid loan with an obligation to buy set at €40 million, the figure United are asking in order to meet budget requirements.
