While AC Milan finished the 2024/25 season strong with four wins in their last five, it has to be said that the overwhelming feeling coming out of the San Siro was one of disappointment. After all, they were only able to end up in 8th place in the league, 19 points and seven spots behind eventual champions Napoli.
It certainly wasn’t a total disaster and they did have a nice run to the Coppa Italia final, but even that ended on a sour note as they were stunned by Bologna in a game that summed up the flat feeling that Milan had for much of the campaign.
The good news, though, is that courtesy of some solid moves in the summer transfer window with more incomings likely on the way, AC are starting to look like a team capable of pushing further up the table.
They are currently listed at 4/7 to finish in the top four and when using this free bet calculator, it’s easy to see that punters are feeling good about their chances this time around.
Another thing that’s probably going to help is that they have wound up with four incredibly winnable games to kickstart the new season. Of course, all teams in Serie A have to play one another twice at some point, but there’s no denying that it is preferable to ease into things as opposed to being thrown in at the deep end.
Milan begin with a game against Cremonese at home who, as fans know, recently earned promotion back to the top flight from Serie B. They will certainly be motivated to try and make a statement but when you are talking about favourable fixtures, playing a newly promoted side in front of a passionate and rowdy home crowd is somewhere towards the top of the list.
Up next will be Lecce who barely avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth last season. They have been able to make some adjustments during the summer but at the same time, there is a clear gulf in quality and resources between these two clubs. For Milan, this is their chance to exploit that and really come flying out of the blocks.
Then, the chance for revenge falls directly at Milan’s feet as they host Bologna in a rematch of the Coppa Italia final. The San Siro faithful are going to be really geared up for this as they aim to banish the memory of what happened on that May night in Rome.
Finally, Milan travel to face a Udinese team that isn’t exactly making a lot of noise right now. After a poor end to last season and a bottom half finish, there is hardly a great deal of excitement in the air about what they can produce in the next nine months or so.
There’s always the possibility that this is false optimism but when you look at it on paper, AC Milan should be hoping for at least nine (and potentially twelve) points by the time their meeting with Napoli rolls around.
