Massimiliano Allegri, the Rossoneri coach, spoke at the press conference after Lecce-Milan.
Milan already yours?
“It wasn’t easy to play a match like this in Lecce. We played a good technical game, staying organized and without losing our composure. We could have done better defensively in a few situations, but when you sense danger differently, you become more reactive in recovering the ball. It wasn’t simple.”
Are you more at ease now with the break coming up and the transfer market?
“We can’t keep thinking about what happened against Cremonese. I’m calm because with the international break ahead, a negative result would have weighed heavily on us. As for the market, the club takes care of that.”
Can Santiago Gimenez stay?
“He can definitely help this team. He’s important, and it’s only been 20 days since he arrived. Tonight he played well and had two goals disallowed. But the fact that he was there, that he scored them, shows he creates chances to score.”
Alexis Saelemaekers and Yunus Musah: what do you think about them?
“It’s not a question of ‘Allegri’s touch’… They’re excellent players. I believe that regardless of who plays, Milan must always respect the opponent and show great humility, not just because we wear the Milan shirt. After the two disallowed goals, the team stayed focused and serious. An unexpected setback must not, and cannot, change the team’s performance.”
In the future, how would you like to remember this match? Allegri commented:
“As the first three points of the season. But we need to earn many more. The defeat against Cremonese meant that tonight we had to play as a serious and responsible team, with patience even without the ball.”
