Debates continue over the penalty that was not awarded to Milan against Bologna.
"Clear mistake" was the comment yesterday from FIGC president Gabriele Gravina. The same view is shared by the AIA, the Italian Referees Association, which will suspend both VAR official Fabbri and referee Marcenaro. This was reported in today’s edition of Corriere della Sera.
On the other hand, La Repubblica reports that main referee Marcenaro will undergo normal rotation while it is Michael Fabbri who will be suspended from VAR duties for two rounds.
Referee Fabbri and previous incidents with Milan
This is not the first time referee Fabbri (as the main official in the cases below) has been involved in a Milan match. As pointed out by Milan Press, he officiated Milan twice in Serie A last season: in the away match at Cagliari, where he was not called for an on-field review to annul Zortea’s goal for Luvumbo’s offside, and in the home game against Roma, where he did not rule Pisilli’s foul on Reijnders in the penalty area as illegal.
