Paolo Scaroni gave an interview to Mediaset before Milan-Lecce in the Coppa Italia round of 16. The Milan president spoke about the San Siro stadium issue, with the City Council vote expected at the end of the month and today’s news on the architectural design of the venue.
“Great optimism and great trust in politics in this case, because it will be the City Council that must approve the operation.”
Paolo Scaroni on San Siro:
“This is a subject I have been working on for many years, at least four or five. It seems we are close to the finish line and I am confident we will reach the goal. I am convinced because we need a new stadium, for Milan, for Inter, for the city, and for international competitions. I cannot imagine Milan without a stadium where we host European cups, national team matches, and everything UEFA requires, as well as Milan and Inter games.”
On the architecture firms handling the design, Scaroni said:
“I have always said I want to build in Milan the most beautiful stadium in Europe, we want a stunning venue. To achieve this, we chose the best in international architecture: Norman Foster and MANICA. Foster is a star in world architecture. They have already worked on stadiums. Norman Foster was responsible for the new Wembley, the temple of football, after demolishing the old one and creating a wonderful venue.”
