Milan confirms once again its status as a giant-killer this season in Serie A.
After Bologna, Napoli and Roma, Massimiliano Allegri’s team beat another top Serie A side last night: Inter. Christian Pulisic decided the Milan derby. He reacted fast after Sommer failed to handle a shot from Alexis Saelemaekers, and the American scored with the goal almost open. Milan also owes the three points to Mike Maignan, who made strong saves in the first half and stopped a penalty in the second half from Calhanoglu, the main former Milan player in this match.

The Rossoneri overtake their bitter rivals:
Corriere della Sera reports this morning that with this win Milan moves above Chivu’s Inter in the standings and stays two points behind Roma. Roma beat Cremonese and now sits alone at the top. This was Milan’s sixth derby in a row without defeat. Milan showed again that when it faces the top Serie A sides it plays as a single unit and knows what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. The team is not first in the standings because of direct clashes, but because it dropped too many points against smaller sides.
Focus on Lazio. After the match, Allegri spoke about the win. “A good win, the match was fun. In the first half we were a bit absent, then the team played better. Winning direct clashes gives joy, then there are seasons when you win against the top sides but drop points against the smaller ones. In the end we have the points we deserve. The result matters on a psychological level. If we had lost we would have been five points behind.” The squad has a few hours to celebrate. After that Allegri was clear, from tomorrow the focus shifts to Saturday’s match against Lazio.
