AC Milan have finalised the arrival of Niclas Füllkrug in recent hours, and he could already take the field on 2 January away to Cagliari thanks to a special exemption granted by the FIGC. However, at Casa Milan, the focus is not only on the immediate future. Work is also underway on two signings for the longer term. The Rossoneri have been tracking Andrej Kostic, a 2007-born striker from Partizan Belgrade, as well as Juan David Arizala, a 2005-born left winger from Independiente Medellín, for some time.
While the deal for the very young wide player appears close to being completed, there is still work to be done for the Montenegrin centre-forward. Kostic, who is represented by the same agency as Dušan Vlahović and has already made two appearances for the senior national team coached by Mirko Vučinić, remains the subject of negotiations with Partizan. The Serbian club are asking for at least €5 million to part with their prized talent. Milan seem willing to reach that figure, but, as reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, there is a complication. Kostic is a non-EU player, just like the other youngster Milan have been pursuing in recent weeks, the Colombian Arizala.
The situation:
The Rossoneri currently have two non-EU slots available and could therefore register both players without any issues, writes Milan News. However, they are reluctant to use up both spots in the opening days of the January transfer window, as doing so would limit other potential opportunities that might arise later in the month. These are therefore days of reflection at the club headquarters, where the club are also searching for a defender to add to Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.
