On his YouTube channel, Carlo Pellegatti commented on the news reported this morning by *La Gazzetta dello Sport* regarding the progress made between the club and Mike Maignan over a contract renewal. These were his words:
"A few days ago I talked about Maignan, I told you about the possible figure of around €5 million, which could rise to €7 million with bonuses, making him the highest-paid player alongside Leão. Well, he would earn exactly the salary of Milan’s top players. Now, there is one thing in Andrea Ramazzotti’s article that caught my attention and pleasantly surprised me: if the player were to sign by the end of the transfer window or shortly after, let’s say by the end of March, Milan could give him the difference between what he would earn at €5 million and what he earns now, as if those €5 million were retroactive."
Pellegatti added:
"This amount could be paid if and when Milan qualify for the Champions League, a very minimal target. So, in a way, it would be a kind of signing bonus, essentially what he would earn by going to another club. It depends 70–80% on Maignan, who is being urged by his teammates and by Massimiliano Allegri."
