The alarm is raised by Gazzetta dello Sport: Milan scores, but not enough from its midfielders. This is significant, especially when compared with Massimiliano Allegri’s expectations, who at the start of the season set a target: at least 15 goals from the midfield. Today, however, reality tells a different story.

Milan’s total goals stand at 35, of which only five have come from midfield, spread across five different players with one goal each. The contribution of the midfield thus amounts to 14.3%, a percentage considered too low for a team aiming to remain consistently at the top of the table.
The newspaper emphasizes that the issue for AC Milan midfielders is not effort, but offensive output.
Youssouf Fofana is among the most present and generous: he runs, wins the ball, supports the attack, yet he has missed several chances that could have altered the balance. Adrien Rabiot, returning from his November injury, has not yet regained top physical form, while Luka Modric appears naturally in a declining phase, as relayed via La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The situation is more complicated for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who, despite decent minutes, struggles to find continuity and rhythm. Samuele Ricci and Ardon Jashari, finally, remain full-fledged backups, with an inevitably limited impact even in front of goal.
The picture is clear: Milan’s midfield works hard but scores little. Without a change in trend, the target set by Allegri at the start of the season risks remaining just a statement of intent.
