Two months to reshape his destiny, two months to make everyone think again and to prove he deserves another chance. This is the task facing Santiago Giménez, who is back available for AC Milan after months out. A return that brings several question marks, much like his entire journey since arriving in Italy. The expectations were more than positive, considering how well he performed in the Netherlands. His early days in Milan were also promising. Then, the void.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, his trajectory now needs to change direction. The injury that kept him sidelined for so long, and the surgery, were explained by the player himself: “The discomfort had been with me even before the Gold Cup; as a player, you tell yourself it’s nothing and that you have to keep going, but after every match the pain kept increasing more and more, until it reached a point where it was really severe. I was a starter at Milan, my expectations were very high, and that’s when you begin to doubt whether to stop or continue. I chose to carry on, I took medication to play, until I reached a point where I simply couldn’t go on anymore or even run, it hurt a lot.”
Now “Santi” must follow a very clear path to win back his place at Milan and with Mexico after losing his starting role. An adaptation period, muscle problems, and even bad luck, nothing has been easy for him. That’s why he has two months to prove he can play a decisive role both for the Rossoneri and for his national team.
In the Netherlands, he scored goals in bursts, showing great promise. Now, that “hurricane” is what Massimiliano Allegri hopes will sweep through Milan as well, especially at a time when the coach urgently needs goals from his strikers. Giménez needs a rebirth to aim for a new story in the Rossoneri shirt. To write another chapter, this time with a happy ending.
