Leao is being limited – Here’s why, according to Peppe Di Stefano

In the Sky Sport 24 studio, the recurring question is more or less always the same: could this be the summer of Rafael Leao's departure? Peppe Di Stefano, speaking live from Milanello, answered as follows:

“In my opinion, it could be the summer of change, but there’s no certainty. If Milan were to continue with Massimiliano Allegri, Allegri’s priority is to stay at Milan, and Milan’s priority is to remain firmly in Allegri’s hands. In that case, everyone would probably benefit. Leao is not a centre-forward, and probably not even a second striker; he adapts to playing up front. I wouldn’t say unwillingly, because he’s done it and almost reached double figures, but clearly this isn’t the real Leao: he’s being limited."

"We’ve seen the best of Leao in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1. It's also true, however, that for a player to leave a club, there must be suitable market opportunities for the selling club, the buying club, and the player. At the moment, even though there are still eight matches left, nothing is moving."

"Milan must protect the talent they have, because one way or another, when he plays, he still makes an impact at times, despite those attitudes that Allegri hasn’t always appreciated. Today he trained with the team, and he’ll do the same tomorrow. I don’t think he’ll start. There’s a doubt between Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Giménez, more Nkunku than Giménez, but there are still two full training sessions to come, tomorrow and the day after."
