Regarding AC Milan’s current rough patch, coming off two consecutive defeats against Napoli and Udinese, and now holding only a four-point lead over fifth place, today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport runs the headline: "When the team raises the alarm."
After the heavy home loss to the Friulian side, some post-match comments from Milan players appeared quite worrying to the fans. For instance, Samuele Ricci said:
"This team has technical quality, but now we also need to show human qualities. Against Udinese, we lacked presence on the pitch, that’s the feeling I had. There’s been a lot of talk about the change in formation because we have several players suited for one-on-one situations. But if you approach matches like this, it means there’s something wrong that goes beyond the formation."
The remarks from Adrien Rabiot also made an impact:
"We lacked organisation on the pitch, and also the desire and determination to score and achieve our objective. The formation isn’t the issue, it’s the players’ attitude, ours on the pitch, that makes the difference: putting in determination, chasing opponents, and doing things properly. As a team, we could have done much better, more united. We’ve lost that on the pitch: the willingness to work for one another, to track back together and to fight together. That’s what we need to rediscover, it’s what has served us well up to now."
