Matteo Gabbia, AC Milan player, spoke in a press conference after the poor performance in Reggio Emilia.
How do you get through this moment?
"Together. The only way to get through a difficult moment is to do it together, as a real group, which we have shown this year even in the suffering of some matches. We managed to stay united, a true team. As a result, the only way is to do it all together, understanding how important it is for us to achieve this objective. We have to roll up our sleeves, live 100% for this shirt and this job," said Gabbia.
Milan collapsed at the first difficulty...
"Honestly, I don’t know on what basis. It was a negative match, it wasn’t the first moment of difficulty. It was simply a match in which we weren’t able to do things properly. We should have done better. We need to be united, compact. The last match we played against Juventus, in some moments of difficulty, we were a real team, and that makes the difference in a league."
Does the fact that you didn’t go under the stand keep the environment united? Gabbia replied:
"I was on the pitch and we went over. The fans booed us. I think that’s completely normal when you wear this shirt and play a match like that. We went to greet them, they booed us, rightly so, because that’s what we deserved, and then we left."
On the strikers’ form: structural problem or their current moment?
"If we concede two goals, it’s the defenders’ fault. A team’s strength is the group. This is an area where we can improve. We need to do better to help the strikers score, but during the season we’ve had situations where we could have scored. We need to stay clear-headed; the only way is to work well during the week and give our best in matches to win."
