Head coach Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media in a press conference following the AC Milan's loss against Sassuolo 2-0.
Question: Does Milan have the maturity to reach the Champions League?
"We’ll see. If we manage to do it, it means we’ve done a good job; otherwise we risk throwing away ten months of work. Getting anxious or nervous is useless. It was a strange, bad match, we were left with ten men, and we conceded a goal at the start of the second half. From Tuesday we need to clear our heads and prepare well for the match against Atalanta."
What did you say to the team after the match ended?
"It was the worst match of the year, affected by the fact we were down to ten men. I didn’t say anything to the team; from Tuesday onwards we will all work together," said Allegri.
Why is Milan struggling to score goals?
"We are having a poor second half of the season. What has been done cannot be changed. From the day after tomorrow, when we resume, we must focus on working and doing well against Atalanta."
Allegri, are you ready to take drastic action to turn things around?
"At this moment, no. We must take responsibility for the situation. We have temporarily dropped a lot of points, but we are still in the top four. The maths says we need two wins out of three. We must convince ourselves that we are capable of beating any team; we must not throw away ten months of work."
