Yesterday, Sky Sport reported that for next season, Gerry Cardinale could choose Viktor Bezhani, currently at Toulouse, as the new sporting director instead of Tare.
But who is Viktor Bezhani?
Born in Albania in 1985, Bezhani began his career as a match analyst for Croatia’s Under-19 team and as coach of the Under-21 side at Anorthosis Famagusta, a Cypriot club where he also became assistant coach of the first team. In 2017, he became a scout for Legia Warsaw for two years before moving to England, where he worked first with Brentford, then Watford, and finally Leicester. However, his real rise began in 2023, when he joined Toulouse as technical director, becoming the right-hand man of Damien Comolli, as pointed out via Milan News today.
Bezhani and the algorithm:
After arriving at Toulouse, probably the world’s leading club in the use of the famous algorithm for selecting players compatible with the team’s technical and tactical requirements, Bezhani quickly embraced this method. It is a system particularly appreciated by Milan owner Gerry Cardinale, who values Bezhani for his ability to generate capital gains through player trading.
