AC Milan’s centre-forward problem is bigger than one bad season

Numbers say a lot, but not everything. This year, so far, no AC Milan forward has reached double figures, and it is quite likely that even after Sunday night’s match at San Siro the situation will remain the same. But let’s be honest, even if Leao or Pulisic, in a major scoring drought, were to get past the 10-goal mark, the problem would remain. And it is a big problem: because throughout the season, in fits and starts and often all together, the Rossoneri strikers have taken very long breaks. Fullkrug is on one goal, but he arrived in January. Pulisic has not scored since the end of December 2025. Nkunku is inconsistent (but has scored some very important goals).

Leao seems to have fallen out irreparably with the fans: it is his fault even when it is not his fault. A troubled season marked by pubalgia and by a role that does not suit him. And yet he is still the top scorer. And then there is Santi Giménez.

As the season comes to an end, the AC Milan fans will be looking for ways to stay entertained and fill the void which would be left by the Rossoneri matches on weekends. Many may turn to Aviator Game Online which is a crash game that keeps excitement levels high while also allowing its users to potentially gain interesting prizes and strike gold.

Santiago Giménez’s scoring drought and Milan’s attacking issues:

I invite you to go back and watch the heaps of goals scored by the Mexican in a Feyenoord shirt. Not only in the Eredivisie, because there is always someone ready to say it is easy to score abroad (this constant idea that Serie A is still a top-level league, how annoying), but also in Europe: watch his last goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and try to imagine whether he would be able to do that now. He would not even manage to control the ball while running. OK, he has had an injury and surgery in between, but Santi has not scored in Serie A for more than a year.

A 30 million euro striker who in the Netherlands had a goal average bordering on the impressive. He has not scored in the league for more than 365 days. And the most serious thing is that he gives the impression that there is nothing suggesting the situation could change. And this applies a bit to all the Milan forwards.

From Ibrahimovic to Giroud: the last reliable strikers

Let’s try to count the players in recent years who gave the impression they could do something concrete in the penalty area at any moment. There is Zlatan Ibrahimović, who upon returning from America seemed possessed. He was in an astonishing and almost dangerous physical condition. Then his body made him pay the price, but as long as it held up he was beyond any standard. Then there is Giroud: always considered a “supporting actor”, in his career he has scored important goals, done so consistently, he is the all-time top scorer for France and has worn hugely important shirts. A reliable, very reliable option. And indeed he, given a body no longer at its peak but still good enough, did beautiful things with AC Milan. And after that? Literally nothing. Or rather…

It seems that every attacking player who passes through Milan regresses as a footballer. Pioli, Fonseca, Conceição, Allegri… De Ketelaere could not even control a ball anymore. Origi stopped playing football. Okafor, does anyone remember him? Jović could not convince himself that he is a professional footballer, writes Milannews. Morata got completely lost and is now, fortunately, Como’s problem. Has Leao improved as a footballer since he basically won the Scudetto almost on his own? Certainly not, in fact quite the opposite. He has continued to want the ball only to feet, continued not to be able to head the ball despite his height and physique, continued not to link up intelligently with teammates, continued not to strike the ball with real aggression and decisiveness. Despite this, he has always been among the best, when there were any best players.

Why the centre-forward role at Milan has become a problem:

Being the centre-forward at Milan is the hardest job in the world, but it is still difficult to understand why. Either a fully formed, high-level player with overwhelming personality arrives, or this shirt swallows anyone who wears it. Whoever puts it on becomes afraid to shoot, to make mistakes, becomes soft, invisible, almost damaging. Many coaches have come and gone, many tactical systems, many players, yet the problem is always the same: whoever comes to Milan to play in an attacking role eventually regresses as a footballer. A very serious issue on which, at the end of the season, the managementand the coach will have to reflect deeply.
