Among the most interesting developments to emerge from the first training session of Ruben Amorim’s new Milan side is certainly the use of Samuel Chukwueze as a full wing-back in the new manager’s 3-4-2-1 system. After returning from his loan spell at Fulham, the Nigerian appeared destined to leave again, but the Portuguese coach seems keen to rely on him in an unfamiliar role.
Tuttosport writes this morning:
“Chukwueze has never played in this position, but at the same time it is a solution already seen from Amorim, who has often adapted players with highly attacking characteristics — even outright forwards — to the wing-back positions. At Manchester, he did so with Diallo, who is naturally an attacker, while at Sporting Lisbon the examples were Catamo and Quenda. Clearly, Chukwueze’s profile is the one that most closely resembles, in terms of characteristics, the choices Amorim has made in the past," as relayed via Milan News.
