Amid injuries, players still on post-World Cup holidays, and possible departures, Christopher Nkunku and Samuel Chukwueze are currently Milan starters under Ruben Amorim.
Chukwueze and Nkunku as starters
Both players are currently extremely important for the Portuguese coach’s 3-4-2-1 system.
The Frenchman, who returned from his holidays in excellent shape, will replace the injured Christian Pulisic in the role behind the striker, a position he has already performed very well in the past.
Chukwueze, meanwhile, has a dual role: the newspaper places him alongside Nkunku in the attacking midfield positions, but Amorim has also tested him as a wide player covering the entire flank and could therefore use him in a similar way to how he deployed Amad Diallo at Manchester United.
An opportunity for redemption
For both players, these opening weeks with few competitors in the squad will be very useful to show the manager their qualities and earn a more or less important role during the season.
Both players also need to make up for Rossoneri experiences that have so far been disappointing. Chukwueze, who arrived last year on loan before making the move permanent, cost €20 million plus bonuses and has managed only 8 goals in 70 appearances, with little else to show for it.
Nkunku, meanwhile, was signed last summer for a hefty €37 million plus bonuses. He did score a few goals during the season (especially from penalties), but he never fully convinced.
