Konstantinos Karetsas is on AC Milan’s radar. The Greek talent, born in 2007, has been identified as the right player to strengthen the attacking midfield area available to Ruben Amorim, although there are still obstacles to overcome. The Rossoneri club have been monitoring the player for some time, as revealed today by Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport.
That Braga–Genk match in November…
The two newspapers report on the visit to the Estádio Municipal last November by Geoffrey Moncada, who was then the technical director, to watch the fourth matchday of the Europa League group stage between Braga and Genk. Karetsas provided two assists in the Belgians’ thrilling 4–3 victory. The feedback was extremely positive, but at the time the player did not seem compatible with Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical system. Genk were aware of the gem they had on their hands and, for that reason, just one month later, they secured his renewal until 2029, as pointed out via Milan Press.
Karetsas–Milan: the obstacles
The main problem remains finding space for him in the squad, and that depends on Rafael Leão, who is expected to leave Milan but currently has no offers apart from a proposal from Galatasaray worth €10 million per season. However, the Portuguese forward is not open to moving to Turkey.
The other obstacle concerns his valuation, as Genk rate the player at around €40 million and have already rejected a €30 million offer from Borussia Dortmund.
