After the arrivals of Gonçalo Ramos and Mario Gila, not including youngsters Guernier and Diawara, Milan's transfer activity has come to a halt. Before making further moves to strengthen Ruben Amorim's squad, the Rossoneri must first focus on player sales. Nevertheless, one of the positions the club is monitoring closely is the attacking midfield role. Several names have emerged in recent weeks, with some already falling by the wayside. The latest is Arsenal's 2007-born talent Ethan Nwaneri.
The English youngster spent the second half of last season on loan at Olympique Marseille after joining in January, although he struggled for regular playing time in France. According to The Times UK, Milan are showing strong interest in the player, but they are not alone. Borussia Dortmund have also included Ethan Nwaneri on their shortlist, setting up another transfer battle for a highly-rated young attacking midfielder. The German club recently completed the signing of another 19-year-old playmaker, Greek prospect Konstantinos Karetsas, who had also been a major target for the Rossoneri. Another market rivalry could now be on the cards.

Last summer, Ethan Nwaneri signed a long-term contract with Arsenal until 2030. Borussia Dortmund had already shown interest, as had Chelsea and Fulham, but Mikel Arteta pushed to keep the young midfielder. However, after finding limited opportunities with the first team, Nwaneri eventually joined Marseille on loan.
Now, thanks to both his age and the length of his contract, Arsenal are demanding a premium fee from any interested club. According to The Times, the North London side are asking for just under €60 million, around £50 million. It is difficult to imagine Milan investing such a significant amount. The Rossoneri would first need to generate funds through player sales, while it remains to be seen whether they could explore alternative deal structures to make a move possible.
