Speaking during his regular transfer update on Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto provided the latest on AC Milan's transfer market, focusing in particular on Rafael Leao's future:
"I want to clear a few things up. Fenerbahce, the club that has shown the strongest interest in recent days from Milan's perspective, have not submitted an official bid to Milan. Instead, they made a verbal proposal, which the Rossoneri considered unsatisfactory because it was a loan with an option to buy. That is not the formula Milan are looking for. Milan want a permanent transfer, or at most a loan with an obligation to buy under very straightforward conditions."
"Fenerbahce's verbal proposal was a loan with an option to buy, and the overall value did not even reach €40 million. As things stand, Milan and Fenerbahce are not particularly close. It is true that Fenerbahce are interested in the player, and it is also true that they are exploring the possibility of improving their offer to sign Rafael Leao. Whether that improved bid will actually arrive remains to be seen."
"I can also add that Galatasaray remain interested in Rafael Leao. Both Turkish clubs are pursuing the Portuguese forward, and we'll see over the coming days whether there are any developments or if other opportunities emerge for Leao to leave. For now, however, he will rejoin the squad and begin the season, at least the opening part of it, with Milan."
