The Italian newspaper 'Il Corriere dello Sport' ran this headline in this morning edition:
“Amorim, here come the doubters. Eyes on Milan: bets are being placed on Ruben to be sacked.”
The season has not officially started yet, but the Rossoneri coach is already under scrutiny following the 3-0 defeat in the final friendly against Chelsea. Among the managers of the top clubs, the Portuguese is the one bookmakers believe is most likely to be sacked.
After the defeat to Chelsea, Amorim spoke to Sky about Milan’s transfer market:
“We are thinking things through. Of course, in football you don’t have time, but we want to do things the right way. And if you look at our past, sometimes we have made mistakes. We won’t make them again. I’m very happy with the squad. We will be strong against Torino with this squad. I don’t know what will happen in the transfer market, but I certainly won’t go and ask for more signings after a defeat. I’m very satisfied with the players I have; we just need to improve.
“The beauty of being a coach is not just asking for more players. I asked for two (Ramos and Gila, ed.) and the club did everything possible to sign them quickly. We have some really good players, including the youngsters, and we will be ready for our opening match.”
