While reports in Italy speak of a verbal agreement between Christopher Nkunku and Leipzig, with Milan still to be convinced, reports from France have emerged that could change the narrative surrounding the negotiations. The French forward will not wear the Rossoneri shirt in the 2025/26 season, and his future could be decided very soon.
Milan transfer news: Agreement with Leipzig for Nkunku
According to an exclusive report from transfer market expert Santi Aouna on his 'X' account, Milan and Leipzig have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement for Nkunku's move to Germany. The German club is said to have convinced the Rossoneri with an offer of a €3 million paid loan, with a €27 million purchase option. However, there is still one final obstacle to overcome.
No agreement with Nkunku yet...
Leipzig have not yet reached an agreement with the French forward. While the German club will cover Nkunku's €5 million net salary at Milan during the first season, the two parties are discussing the figures and length of the contract that would come into effect from next 30 June if the purchase option is exercised. An agreement must be reached by 1 September for the deal to go through. Both parties intend to meet that deadline, but Leipzig will need to accelerate the negotiations to avoid competition from the Premier League.
Newcastle's interest...
Another club strongly interested in Nkunku is Newcastle. According to Aouna, the Magpies could attempt to overtake Leipzig by signing the French forward on a permanent deal. This is a solution Milan would prefer to the loan proposed by the German club. However, the player has made a return to Germany his priority. The next 48 hours will be crucial in determining his future.
