Ruben Amorim spoke to DAZN ahead of the match against Torino. Here is what he had to say:

“It’s a message to our fans: we’ve been together over these four weeks and we’ve worked for the team. But it’s not just us, it’s everyone at our club. It’s a great feeling to have the owner here for the first match, but now we have to play well and win the game for our fans. They are fantastic. It’s truly fantastic to be Milan’s coach, and I’m proud.”
Does this team have the characteristics to play the football you want?
“Every coach has their own ideas. I understand that the football culture here is a little different. But first of all, to play well, we have to defend well, and we want to defend well. But we also want to play differently compared to the recent past. I’m saying differently, not better or worse. We want to be dominant and have the ball. The fans want to be involved, they want to see goals, and I have a great responsibility when I coach Milan. But we also want to defend in the right way. Then, with all the players we have going forward, we can certainly score goals. But to win matches, we cannot concede too many goals, so we have to do both things well.”
What do you like so much about Cissé?
“I believe it’s important, especially in Italian football, to give young players opportunities on the pitch. Cissé was injured at the beginning of the summer, but he still stayed throughout, watching training sessions... All these little details make me like him even more. He’s also a player with great quality, very creative. We need young Italian players to be creative and show different things. Modrić and Rabiot will be very important throughout the season. Rabiot has had few training sessions, and the same goes for Modrić, so we have to be cautious. I expect to bring them on towards the end of the game, during the crucial moments.”
