Yesterday, Omari Hutchinson, the Jamaican forward born in 2003 who is joining from Nottingham Forest, completed his first day as an AC Milan player: medical examinations, fitness tests, contract signing and the official announcement. He is the Rossoneri’s reinforcement in the attacking midfield position, as he arrived from the Premier League on a loan deal with an option to buy. He could be Milan’s final incoming signing of the transfer window: as the Corriere dello Sport points out, with the deadline at 8pm, another deal is difficult to see happening. Although, as we know, anything can happen in the transfer market.
On Saturday, Gerry Cardinale and the club’s transfer team met with head coach Ruben Amorim to assess the situation with just a few days remaining before the transfer window closed. On that occasion, the decision was made to push ahead with Hutchinson, while the possibility of looking for at least one more defender, specifically a centre-back, was also discussed. In the hours that followed, however, no particularly interesting options emerged for the defence, no players who could certainly raise the quality of the squad available to the Portuguese coach. For this reason, the feeling is that Milan could simply stick with the current squad. Any further ideas and transfer resources will be postponed until the January window.

Milan should therefore retain the same squad structure seen in the opening two league matches, with Hutchinson added to the group. In attack, as Amorim had confirmed, Camarda will be Ramos’ deputy, while the rotation between Estupinan and Bartesaghi will continue on the flanks. At the club’s headquarters on Via Aldo Rossi, there will still be plenty of work in the final hours of the transfer window when it comes to departures. Youssouf Fofana is close to a move to Lyon, although some obstacles that emerged last night will need to be overcome; Warren Bondo has attracted interest from Sassuolo but is waiting for Monaco; while, in Fikayo Tomori’s case, Milan hope to find a last-minute solution to avoid having him spend the next few months in the stands.
