Alphadjo Cisse is certainly the biggest surprise of Milan’s start to the season, having scored two goals in the first three Serie A matches. Today’s edition of Tuttosport reports the words of Ciro Polito, sporting director of Catanzaro, who discovered and gave the Treviso-born attacking midfielder his breakthrough:
"Alphadjo is an extraordinary player. I saw him do incredible things at Catanzaro, both during matches and in training, so I’m not surprised by the top-player level of performances he is producing with Milan. The only doubt could have been how he would recover after his injury, but Cisse is now doing extremely well and can become the driving force behind the Rossoneri. He will soon be called up to the national team."
Polito then explained how the deal that took Cisse to Milan last January came about:
"The agreement with PSV was done when Milan entered the picture. At that point, the player preferred to join Milan, and so did we, because that meant he would remain at Catanzaro until the end of the season. It was a shame that he then got injured shortly afterwards. Otherwise, with him in the team, we could have finished even higher."
