Ruben Amorim’s choices in midfield continue to spark debate, despite the fact that the Rossoneri’s latest outing, a 1-1 draw against Juventus, came last Sunday.
Ahead of the clash against Gennaro Gattuso's Lazio, the Portuguese coach will once again be called upon to make some important decisions in an area of the pitch where there is plenty of depth, where there is an almost untouchable figure in Modric, and where there are only two slots genuinely available in the 3-4-2-1.
In this regard, speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabio Caressa highlighted the potential tactical dualism between Adrien Rabiot and Yunus Musah. While it would have been unthinkable before the start of the season, it is easy to interpret from a technical and tactical perspective based on the coach’s choices.
“Musah, despite making a lot of mistakes, made so many in the build-up against Juventus. He’s someone who does the dirty work in the middle of the pitch. Rabiot does it too, but Musah does more of it.”
Playing Rabiot further reduces his impact:
"I understand that, in order to find a place for Rabiot, Amorim might think about keeping him a little further forward. But if you keep him further forward, you don’t let him do what, as my friend Beppe says, is his ‘horse’ work, meaning you don’t let him make those runs into the box, you don’t let him burst forward. That’s something he needs to adjust a little."
