Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano had the following to say about Ruben Amorim, who has come under some criticism following Milan’s performance against Juventus:
"Yesterday was a day when you heard and read a bit of everything, as if people couldn't wait to criticise and tear into Ruben Amorim. He may not be the best coach in the world, but in my view, he does not deserve all the criticism he is receiving after a game that perhaps was not played at the required level, like the one against Juventus, but Milan were nevertheless ahead until the final minutes. The Rossoneri were absolutely up to the task. Thinking that Amorim, who came from completely different environments in Portugal and England, would completely transform Milan in three months was absolutely unrealistic."
Amorim needs more time...
"From the very first meeting he had with Gerry Cardinale, Amorim, who was competing with Matthias Jaissle, now the Newcastle coach, for the Milan job, demonstrated an honesty and long-term vision that made the difference in the Milan owner’s decision. Even before being appointed as Milan’s new coach, the Portuguese was very clear about wanting to implement his footballing ideas. But it is clear that it will take time, and the Rossoneri club itself knows this, aware that patience will be needed to build a Milan team. Clearly, Amorim’s objective is to win and compete in the best possible way, but the Portuguese coach needs and wants time to show his Milan from a tactical, attitude and personnel standpoint. Amorim has been very clear on this; he has not promised anything, and he deserves respect for being clear and honest. Ultimately, the pitch will have the final say."
