During an interview with 'Corriere della Sera', Billy Costacurta gave his first impressions of the new Milan under Amorim. The former defender, like many others, admitted that he was concerned about the game against Benfica, but the team's response against Lecce reassured him.
“Against Benfica, I was worried because I couldn't see how they were going to trouble the opposition and they weren't looking to play in behind. I could have played too at 60 years old, given that the defenders were never forced to make a run; the Portuguese played as if they had a pipe in their mouths. Against Lecce, I saw a different Milan from the one of recent years, a proactive side that looks promising. I think it is still a little too early to judge, but the team sent the right messages."
Costacurta added:
"I think they want to win back San Siro: verticality in their play, the attempt to help one another and to be a team, meaning all together or nobody. I noticed these messages in flashes, but ultimately, I can see the light.”
