Ruben Amorim spoke to DAZN after the home 2-4 defeat against Bologna. Here are his words:
You seemed to be managing the game. Then what happened?
“Many matches, many players out, and a bit of tiredness came through. We also had the chance with Camarda to equalise, but we did not manage to do so.”
On Saturday, there is the derby...
“Tomorrow, we will understand who will be available and how to prepare for the match. Tomori had a problem and will need to be assessed. We will make all the assessments and prepare as well as possible, even though there is little time.”
Injuries are one thing, but your Milan have lacked consistency from the beginning... Amorim said:
“I did not say that we lost because of the injuries. I think we lacked energy and, since we cannot make the same rotations, it is difficult for us to press continuously and play our football. When we stop playing our football, we suffer. And then, a coach who arrived two months ago cannot expect the whole team to play a different style of football for ninety minutes, and that is something you should understand.”
How do you assess your team's performance?
“From the very beginning, I had understood that we were lacking a bit of energy. We will try to make sure we are ready for the derby. Some mistakes came because we lacked energy.”
How do you prepare for a match like the derby?
“Obviously, we will try to win the next match. I am not here to find excuses. I want a team that keeps improving, and I am convinced that we will be able to do so. We are Milan and we must always bring home the result. When you lose, there is no point in talking about the performance. We immediately look towards the next match to do our best.”
