AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano have unveiled the Generali Stadium today, their future home: a new stadium conceived to bring the spirit of San Siro into a new era and become a new landmark for Milan.

More than a football stadium, the project represents a long-term investment in the future of two of the most historic clubs in world football, a new home for generations of fans and a destination designed to contribute to the city’s cultural, economic and urban development.

The presentation marks an important milestone in a journey that continues to turn ambition into reality. It offers the first overall look at a stadium designed to honour San Siro’s legacy while creating a world-class experience for the future of football.

The project stems from a long-term vision shared by the Clubs and their respective owners, RedBird Capital Partners and Oaktree, part of Brookfield’s credit platform. It represents a strategic investment in the future of both organisations: it creates the infrastructure needed to support lasting sporting results, open up new growth opportunities and strengthen their ability to compete and win at the highest international levels.

At the same time, the project reflects a broader ambition: to contribute to the modernisation of Italian football and consolidate Milan’s position as one of Europe’s most dynamic, innovative and globally recognised cities.

The architectural vision bears the signature of Foster + Partners and MANICA, led by Lord Norman Foster, one of the most authoritative figures in contemporary architecture, and David Manica, an international reference in the design of cutting-edge stadiums. United by a collaboration dating back to the project for the new Wembley Stadium in London, they combine architectural excellence and expertise in stadium design to create a destination rooted in Milan’s identity and firmly oriented towards the future.

Generali naming partner from day one

The new stadium will bear the Generali name through one of the largest stadium naming rights agreements in world sport. A partner from day one, Generali, an Italian leader and one of the world’s largest insurance and asset management groups, shares the Clubs’ long-term commitment to Milan and their ambition to help shape its future, strengthening the city’s position on the global stage and creating a lasting legacy for generations to come. In addition to the naming rights, Generali will also be the Official Insurance Partner of both Clubs, becoming part of the moments, emotions and shared experiences that will bring the stadium to life.

Designed for Milan, destined to become a new landmark

Every great city is defined by places that become part of its identity. Inspired by Milan’s architectural heritage and design culture, the Generali Stadium has been conceived to be one of these places.

At the heart of the project is a striking structural element whose bold rhythm recalls the Italian engineering tradition and the refined craftsmanship of Milan Cathedral. The X-shaped concrete structure extends from the naturally ventilated colonnades, crosses the façade and culminates in the roof, supporting its distinctive line.

The entrances, with their characteristic diamond shape, welcome visitors and create moments of discovery upon arrival, offering glimpses of the stadium before opening onto panoramic routes with wide views of the city.

Crowning the building is a double-curved roof with an unmistakable silhouette. More than an architectural statement, it frames and enhances the two iconic Curvas, creating a powerful visual identity while integrating photovoltaic technology, acoustic optimisation and other sustainability solutions essential to a modern stadium. The result is an unmistakably contemporary project, yet deeply connected to Milan’s character, creativity and international outlook.

Preserving what matters the most

The architecture is new, but the ambition is clear: to preserve the atmosphere, emotion and sense of belonging that make San Siro one of football’s most iconic stages.

With approximately 71,500 seats, the Generali Stadium has been designed around a clear principle: bringing fans closer to the action and maximising the intensity of the matchday experience.

Two large tiers of stands surround the pitch through 360 degrees, offering optimal views and an immersive connection between fans and the playing surface. At both ends, the Curvas rise like imposing human walls, leaning towards the pitch and sloping at up to 37 degrees to amplify the atmosphere and visual impact.

Designed to capture and intensify the energy of the crowd, the stadium’s acoustic system keeps fans at the centre of the spectacle and helps create an environment intended to be among the most engaging in world football. Greater accessibility, modern hospitality concepts and a wide choice of seating, from world-class premium experiences to popular sections, will allow the facility to welcome fans of every generation, offering new ways to experience a match.

The result is a stadium designed to bring fans closer than ever to the moments that matter most.

A stadium built for the future, which remains deeply connected to everything that makes San Siro special: the emotion, the atmosphere, the unforgettable European nights, the great champions and, above all, the fans who shape its soul.

A new destination for Milan

The Generali Stadium is conceived not only as the home of AC Milan and Internazionale, but also as one of the city’s most important new destinations.

At the heart of a wider 281,000-square-metre urban regeneration project, the development will transform the surrounding area into a lively neighbourhood active throughout the year, integrating new public spaces, green areas and places dedicated to leisure and shopping into the urban fabric.

Designed to welcome residents, visitors and fans from all over the world, the neighbourhood will offer opportunities to experience the Clubs, their history and their communities beyond matchdays, creating new places to meet, connect and celebrate. The ambition goes far beyond football. The project will create a year-round destination for sport, culture and entertainment, designed to contribute to Milan’s appeal on the global stage.

Sustainability is an integral part of the development, with solutions including natural ventilation, photovoltaic energy production and a series of measures designed to improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact and support long-term operational performance.

From vision to reality

Today’s presentation marks another fundamental step towards the construction of the new stadium, following the historic agreement reached in 2025 between the two Clubs and the Municipality of Milan, which laid the foundations for the transformation of the San Siro area.

The process will now continue through the subsequent design phases, with the aim of starting construction in 2028 and playing the first match in the 2031/32 sporting season, subject to the necessary authorisations.

For AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano, the Generali Stadium is much more than an infrastructure project. It is an investment in sporting ambition, future generations of fans and the long-term future of both Clubs. It is the platform that will help support growth, strengthen competitiveness and create new opportunities on and off the pitch. Above all, it is a commitment to the people who will fill it. A new home for football. A new icon for Milan.
