Alessio Romagnoli, centre-back of the Rossoneri, had sat on the bench many times since the arrival of Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on loan. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are satisfied with the 23-year-old and would like to redeem his stay.
This leaves the Italian central defender in a tough situation because he is not getting as many minutes as he used to with Tomori's presence. However, according to what is reported today by Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossonero number 13 could actually renew with the club.
In fact, the management would like to three centre-backs available for Pioli because rotation and depth is needed ahead of the new commitment of the Champions League. The player's contract expires in 2022.
As for Tomori, there should be no problems regarding that front. Club management would like a discount but if Chelsea still refuse to lower their request for the buy-option, then Milan will just sign the Englishman permanently for 28 million euros.
