As CalcioMercato wrote today, Milan and right-back Davide Calabria have inititaed discussions over a renewal for the player. Calabria's contract expires in 2022, and the club has every intention of locking up the Primavera product to a longer deal.
Calabria impressed fans and management this season. He was granted a starting spot the first match, and gave Pioli no reason to demote the player the rest of the season. Now, Milan will look to extend their player and give the Italian a much deserved wage increase.
The renewal negotiations have been going on for several months now, but have gained steam the last week. Calabria and his agent met yesterday at Casa Milan with Maldini, Massara and company. Milan offered their defender a 5 year deal at 2 million euros a season, and the club plans to hold firm on their offer. The player and his agent have reportedly asked for a higher fee, and there has been no agreement as of now.
Calabria has grown up in the red and black, and is expected he will find a deal with Milan for the future. In about ten days time, the entourages will meet again to discuss the amount offered and hopefully come to agreement. Calabria is seen as an integral piece to the project moving forward, and Milan would like to lock their player in for the next 5 years.
