Through the official website of the Lega Serie A, a press release has been published announcing that this morning the League Council has adopted a new formula for next season's calendar, which would see the Italian top flight clubs play an asymmetrical second round that will allow a better distribution of matches.
"The League Council, held this morning, unanimously established that the Serie A TIM calendar will have an asymmetrical second round in the sequence of days compared to the first round. The new format, already in force in other leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga and Ligue1, will have a particular novelty compared to the other nations that have adopted it, with the return matches totally different from the first legs, both in order, both as a composition within the same shift. The new formula will allow a better distribution of matches, not conditioned in this way by constraints present in the first leg that can fall on the same day of the return trip and vice versa. The only criterion imposed on the draw will be that a match will not have its return until that another 8 matches have been played."
