During the presentation of Monza's new head coach Giovanni Stroppa, former AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has referred to the Rossoneri's two Champions League finals in 2005 and 2007, during his speech about the failure to promote the Serie B side to the Italian top flight in the previous season. Here is what he said:
"What mistakes were made? No mistakes were made. Florentino Perez always tells me 'this is football'. We played a championship to go up, the match in which there were mistakes was that of Cittadella. On matchday 38 we could still go up, I have my theories. Remembering Milan with Liverpool they played better in Istanbul than in Athens. Esto es el futbol, I don't know where we went wrong."
