AC Milan is very close to securing the arrival of Olivier Giroud, winner of the Champions League recently with Chelsea. The player is seen as a great asset to be added for coach Stefano Pioli's team, due to his quality and experience.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Angelo Alessio, Antonio Conte's deputy at the time of Chelsea, spoke about the French international and his qualities. Here are his words:
"He can still have a couple of two more good seasons. The value is not in dispute. Serious, humble guy, never a complaint from him. Back then, after a couple of training sessions he had already integrated with the rest of his teammates. And if he's on the bench he doesn't argue."
"I don’t see Giroud playing with Ibrahimovic, so he’s an extra starter for Milan, someone who has already won the Champions League. Stefano Pioli is very lucky to have him"
About Conte's position towards Giroud:
“Conte really loved Giroud. We needed a reliable striker in January 2018 and Olivier had hurt us several times with Arsenal already. Antonio told the board that with Giroud within our squad, we’d be taking a big step forward. And Conte was right, because then, Giroud scored crucial goals, including the one to win the FA Cup."
