Once again, as has already happened this season, Ruben Amorim chose the namesake Loftus-Cheek to start in yesterday’s match against Bournemouth, which Milan then lost heavily 3-0, partly because they were reduced to ten men for over an hour.
The English midfielder, despite being on familiar ground, did not put in a good performance, like the rest of the team, which was unable to offer resistance to Marco Rose’s Rossoneri, even when both sides had eleven players on the pitch. At half-time, Loftus-Cheek was substituted and remained in the dressing room.
At the time, it was thought to be a tactical decision. As Ruben Amorim revealed after the match, however, and as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, the Englishman had felt some discomfort.
In fact, according to Milan News, Ruben Loftus-Cheek experienced a knee problem after taking a knock to the back of the joint. It is not yet clear whether this will have any consequences for the midfielder’s fitness.
