In the latest Serie A game against Hellas Verona, AC Milan struggled, especially in the first half with the absence of some major players such as Brahim Diaz in the attacking midfield area. The Rossoneri also had a bad performance against Porto in the Champions League.

These previous two games have sent an important message to the club management that reinforcement is needed in January. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are aware that the heaviest absence was Brahim Diaz and that is why they may start looking for alternatives for him.

For the playmaker role, there are many profiles that the scouts are analysing. For example, as mentioned by Calciomercato.com, Noa Lang of Club Brugge is a player who is appreciated by the Rossoneri. He is a Dutch 22-year-old versatile winger. However, his pricetag is a little too high for Milan's liking and there is already a lot of competition on him. He is valued at 30 million euros. His contract is due to run out in 2025.

Milan, in their talks with the agents of Noa Lang, also discussed the profile of Yari Verschaeren who happens to be represented by the same agency. He is a 20-year-old Belgian playmaker playing for RSC Anderlecht. His contract expires in 2024.

In addition to these names, though, there is one name who is considered to be the main target in January: Romain Faivre of Brest who was already reportedly close to join Milan in the summer.

Brest, in fact, refused to let go of Faivre to Milan for a fee of 10 million euros in August, so the club directors must convince them with a good proposal. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are aware that a reinforcement to the attacking midfield is needed to be stronger and keep on being competitive.
