AC Milan and Inter want to move forward with the plans to start constructing a new modern stadium. The two clubs are in favour of owning a modern facility that would generate much more money and help the stability of both teams financially.

Giuseppe Sala won the elections earlier this month and now, some steps forward are expected, as promised.

Now, the Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Milan, Elena Grandi, interviewed by Fanpage.it, questioned whether Milan and Inter have the funds neccessary for such a big project. Here are the words:

"In my opinion it is too early to say because we need to understand how the negotiations with the teams are developing, which the mayor will meet shortly. We don't know how far Inter and Milan are able to push themselves and if their project is economically sustainable for them too. Obviously we know that there are San Siro renovation projects that can be recovered and integrated. We think that an intervention of this type is excessive in that neighborhood which can be valued differently from the construction of shopping centers."

"I don't know what their financial situation is, I know that there is not an exactly transparent situation on the economic conditions of the teams."

Elena Grandi also discussed about the possibility of both Milanese clubs leaving the current discussed area and build a stadium elsewhere:

"We know that the teams have an important bargaining power even if I don't think they will leave Milan. The former Falck area of Sesto San Giovanni has been there for some time but I do not think there are any developments in this sense. Two stadiums built in the same city? It is Impossible. Milano cannot afford it. We have never seen a city with two stadiums side by side."
