AC Milan coach, Stefano Pioli, discussed the game further with the club's official channel as he said the following words:
"We have grown up, we knew we would face a difficult group. The fact of not being able to qualify is bitter. We want to return to Europe, we want to stay there continuously and we want to be even more competitive."
On the disappointment:
"It is normal to be disappointed. We all wanted to win to continue our European path. Tomorrow the boys will rest, from Thursday we will work to grow and return to the Champions League again next year."
Pioli on the Milan path so far:
"It is clear that our journey began two years ago and is taking us to the top. We must continue to have that humility that allows us to learn from our mistakes. Now we have to focus on getting Milan back where it deserves, there is a lot of work to do but I'm sure my players will find the strength to keep working and doing well."
The manager continued...
"Today we only played a good match, and in the Champions League a good match is not enough to win. We went there to compete with opponents who have been in the Champions League for years and have also won it. We are still a very young team in this competition, we need to follow a path that helps us to close this gap", said Pioli, "Against normal teams I would have liked to see how it would have turned out, but that's the way it went. Losing all the matches with a single goal difference makes us understand that the difference is not that big, now it is up to us to try to make up for it."
