Serie A matchday 18 of the Rossoneri ended with another disappointing result and performance against rivals Napoli who who were the better side at the San Siro stadium. AC Milan lost 1-0 and are now tied in second position with Napoli as both have 39 points. Inter are first with 43 points.
This is the lineup that Stefano Pioli used for his team from the start:
4-2-3-1: Maignan; Florenzi, Tomori, Romagnoli, Ballo-Touré; Kessié, Tonali; Messias, Brahim Diaz, Krunic; Ibrahimovic.
As for Napoli, their coach chose the following formation:
4-2-3-1: Ospina; Malcuit, Rrhamani, Juan Jesus, Di Lorenzo; Anguissa, Demme; Lozano, Zieliński, Elmas; Petagna
The goal was scored early on, a cross from a corner found the head of Elmas who was poorly marked by Pioli's players. The Rossoneri did not look very organised at the back and especially in the left side of the field. Besides, Ballo-Touré, Franck Kessié and Krunic were not up to the game's standard and they did not contribute much to the game.

The former Atalanta man, Kessié, was not convincing at all and made many wrong choices and mistakes. However, he was not the only one to disappoint as Brahim Diaz was also particularly 'off' as he lacked his usual technical plays which distinguished him well at the start of the season.
The second half was more of the same, there were too many technical errors and a big lack of quality in the field. There were however few chances here and there, but Ospina was not very much threatened as Pioli's boys did not take advantage of certain situations.

The game was going ended with Spalletti taking the win at the Rossoneri's home. Franck Kessié scored in the last minutes of the game, but unfortunately, VAR called it off and it left many doubting the decision. A taste of bitterness is left in the mouth after a disappointing loss against Liverpool in the Champions League, a frustrating draw to Udinese away from home and now comes another negative performance and result against Napoli.
