Diego Moreira is officially a new Milan player. After more than 24 hours spent undergoing medical tests, completing his fitness assessment and finalising the necessary paperwork, the 2004-born player arrived at Casa Milan late yesterday afternoon to sign the contract that will keep him at the Rossoneri club until 30 June 2031. The delay had raised some doubts, but they were eventually put to rest by the club’s official announcement. Moreira has chosen the number 22 shirt and said he is excited to begin his new adventure with the Rossoneri.
Jorge Mendes Spends Six Hours at Casa Milan
Jorge Mendes also remained at Casa Milan throughout the afternoon, having arrived well before the player and leaving only late in the evening after the contracts had been signed. His roughly six-hour stay is unlikely to have been connected exclusively to the final details of the Moreira deal.
The Portuguese super-agent will certainly have discussed Milan’s next moves with Gerry Cardinale, both in terms of departures and, above all, arrivals, having become one of the main interlocutors of the new Rossoneri project following the deals for Gonçalo Ramos and, of course, Diego Moreira.
Leao was also discussed
Among the dossiers discussed was inevitably that of Rafael Leao. Milan are not willing to budge and continue to value him at around €50 million plus bonuses, with Galatasaray currently remaining the most concrete solution, although they have yet to meet the Rossoneri’s asking price. Mendes is working precisely on this: finding a destination that appeals to the Portuguese winger while simultaneously bringing Milan an adequate offer, as relayed via Milannews.it.
The sale of the number 10 would have a huge impact on the rest of Milan’s transfer market, as the club could reinvest the proceeds, particularly in defence and the attacking midfield positions. Mendes could once again play a key role here, but after helping the club sign players, he could now prove decisive in facilitating departures as Milan continue to complete their rebuild.
