Against Empoli, it was a difficult game for AC Milan. However, the Rossoneri still managed to bring home important points. Stefano Pioli's boys took the field with the following lineup:

4-2-3-1: Tătăruşanu; Calabria, Kjær, Tomori, Ballo-Touré; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, De Ketelaere, Leão; Giroud.

As for Empoli, the hosts, this was their lineup:

4-3-1-2: Vicario; Stojanović, De Winter, Luperto, Parisi; Haas, Grassi, Henderson; Pjaca; Satriano, Lammers.

The first half ended goalless. The Rossoneri missed some scoring opportunities and it was clear that Empoli were relying on counter-attacks.

In the second half, the hosts had more belief and tried to get something out of the game. Ante Rebic, however, had a statement to say. He scores the opener for his teammates at the 79th minute after an assist from Rafael Leao. The Croatian comes back from the injury and contributes to the win. In he 92nd minute, though, Empoli's Bajrami equalises with a stunning free-kick.

The Rossoneri, faithful to their habit, never give up. In the 94th minute, Fodé Ballo-Touré scores after a header assist from Rade Krunic. Three minutes later, Rafael Leao scores with a chipped shot after a great solo run from the middle of the pitch. The scoreboard reads 3-1, AC Milan bring home a victory after a roller coaster of a challenge with the Tuscans.
