Yesterday it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was heard by the Federal Prosecutor, but soon it will also be Romelu Lukaku's turn. Prosecutor Chinè wants to acquire all the elements and then make a decision.
La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that the investigation into the dispute that took place in Inter-Milan in the Coppa Italia could be closed by the end of next week. If the head of the Prosecutor's Office decides to dismiss it , then the matter will be over. Otherwise, there would be 15 days to defend themselves or to ask for a plea bargain. Without agreement on the sanction, there would instead be a referral and a sports trial.
For Ibrahimovic, Article 28 of the Sports Justice Code, which refers to discrimination, should not be used. Because otherwise the Swede would risk a maxi-disqualification: 10 matchdays or a timed stop. More likely his behaviour and that of Lukaku will be considered "grossly unsportsmanlike conduct".
Article 39 establishes a minimum disqualification of two days, which would be served in the Italian Cup, but "without prejudice to the application of mitigating or aggravating circumstances ". However, between timing and code, the presence of the two strikers in the Milan-Inter league derby match does not seem to be in question.
La Gazzetta dello Sport concludes that through plea bargaining it could lead to a more reduced disqualification or a fine. It's all in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office now. Once Lukaku has also been listened to, he will analyze all the elements in order to make a decision.
