Today could be a decisive day for Rafael Leao’s future. The Portuguese forward is reportedly said to have informed his agents of his desire to move to Aston Villa, writes Milannews.it. The English have overtaken Galatasaray in the race over the past few hours. The No. 10’s preference is therefore towards the Premier League, but there are still several details to be sorted out, both regarding the player’s situation and between the two clubs.

The Villans are working to reach a definitive agreement with Leao while also moving closer to Milan’s demands. After initially considering a loan deal with a fee and an obligation to buy, Aston Villa have indicated that they are prepared to proceed with a permanent transfer, adjusting the fixed fee and bonuses to reach the €50 million or so requested by Milan.
Meanwhile, Unai Emery is playing a key role behind the scenes, having already had several direct conversations with Leao. During these discussions, he outlined the club’s sporting project, appealing to the Portuguese forward’s desire to test himself in the Premier League and return to playing in the Champions League, something he would also do with Galatasaray.
Galatasaray will not give up on the Leao trail just yet
The matter cannot yet be considered completely settled, however. Galatasaray continue to apply pressure and could make an improved offer in the coming hours in an attempt to turn the situation around once again. The Turkish club have already guaranteed Milan a proposal worth €45 million plus €5 million in bonuses, while they still need to fully satisfy Leao’s latest financial demands.
The Portuguese forward’s wishes represent an important signal, however: Aston Villa are now in pole position, with the coming hours potentially decisive in bringing an end to seven years of Leao’s Rossoneri career.
